Sunshine: How transparent are you with your team?

Crystal: Welcome to The Love of Business. I’m Crystal.

Sunshine: And I’m Sunshine. Let’s get to it.

Transparency with your team. Why is this important?

Crystal: Well, it’s important because you’re showing you’re not hiding anything, that builds trust with you as a leader and with your team.

Sunshine: So, it’s basically like a mini team alignment when you’re doing it like, “Hey, we’ve got a big project this week and I need everybody on board, focused.” Like you’re having that meeting with the high energy and all that stuff to pump everybody up?

Crystal: Well, that. And also, being transparency of the success of the business. Maybe profits were low last quarter, that’s something you should share with them so as a team, we can come together and go for that common goal to increase profits.

Sunshine: Okay, so what are some other ways that we can be more transparent with our team?

Crystal: Great question, three proven ways to be more transparent with your team. Number one, have weekly updates, so everyone is on the same page in what their role is.

Number two, make it a part of the company values and policies.

And number three, share wins and failures as a team.

Sunshine: Okay, so when you say share wins and failures with the team, you’re talking about the company, not individual people, right?

Crystal: Correct. You’re not going to point anyone out. This is just a company as a whole. You know, what were our wins for the week or for the month? And what could have gone better? What are we going to do about it?

Sunshine: What’s your number one takeaway from today’s video? Leave us a comment and thanks for watching.
