Sunshine: How pushy are you when you try to sell?

Crystal: Welcome to The Love of Business. I’m Crystal.

Sunshine: And I’m Sunshine. Let’s get to it.

Pushy salespeople?

Crystal: Yes.

Sunshine: They put a bad taste in my mouth, I usually know exactly what I want when I go into a store. And you’ve got somebody that’s like, “Oh, come on, let me just spray some of this perfume on you.” Because I’m always going to cosmetic stores. Like, what is this all about? I mean, is this a commission thing? I’m not getting it. I mean, we did in a previous video talk about the order taker, somebody who doesn’t do anything but take the order. But now you’ve got somebody who’s the complete and total opposite.

Crystal: And that’s right, they were trained to do this. And what they do is they push the product and service and they don’t talk about your actual needs. They just assume that you’re going to take the product or service. So, let’s all talk about the features, the benefits, how much it costs, but they don’t ask what your needs really are to really determine what’s best for you.

Sunshine: So, they are a hammer, and you are a nail, and they are trying to get it in.

Crystal: Yup.

Sunshine: Okay, so, I guess I could ask, you know, as a customer, how do I how do I get out of this?

Crystal: Most people just get fed up and they walk away.

Sunshine: Okay, and how can you soften this up?

Crystal: There is no softening up. It’s a pushy closer. The name says itself.

Sunshine: Okay, okay. Is there ever a time where you do this, or is this just a bad technique?

Crystal: It’s just a bad technique.

Sunshine: Don’t be a pushy salesperson is what she just said, if you needed to translation
