Sunshine: Do you have the power of persuasion?

Crystal: Welcome, For the Love of Business. I’m Crystal.

Sunshine: And I’m Sunshine. Let’s get to it.

Power of persuasion.

Crystal: Yes.

Sunshine: I feel like this is going to be about sales, because it definitely feels like sales.

Crystal: You can definitely use it in your sales and marketing.

Sunshine: So, how are we going to use the power of persuasion in our sales and marketing, Crystal?

Crystal: Well, let’s back up a minute. Let’s talk about what is the definition of persuasion. Simply put, it’s the act of convincing someone of something.

Sunshine: But we don’t really want to convince somebody of something. We want them to figure that out for themselves, right?

Crystal: That’s right. We want them to convince themselves of the idea that we’re presenting.

Sunshine: All right. I feel some tips coming on.

Crystal: Three easy tips to help persuade someone of something and make it their idea. Number one, use reciprocity. Because when you give you something to someone they want to give it back. Number two, use social proof. Like testimonials. And number three, create some urgency and scarcity.

Sunshine: The law of reciprocity.  You know, that can be a really good thing, but you want to make sure that it’s a small thing that you are doing. If it’s too big, what happens when it’s too big?

Crystal: Well, the other person might not trust you because they think you are up too something.

Sunshine: So, don’t give them a Rolex.
