Matching & Mirroring Your Client’s/Prospect’s Body Language

Matching and Mirroring is a powerful tool to help your prospect or client to feel more comfortable on a subconscious level.

Sunshine: Do you match and mirror your clients and prospects?

Crystal: Welcome to the Love of Business. I’m Coach Crystal.

Sunshine: And I’m Sunshine. Let’s get to it.

Matching and mirroring?

Crystal: Yup.

Sunshine: It kind of sounds like board game doesn’t it?

Crystal: It sounds like a fun board game. It’s not a board game.

Sunshine: So, it’s not copy cat?

Crystal: No, it’s not copy cat. It’s very subtle, nuances, matching and mirroring body language. Which is what we are going to talk about today.

Sunshine: Well, I’m ready to hear all about it.

Crystal: The first thing that we need to know today about matching and mirroring, is that people surround themselves with people just like them.

Now, when you are with a prospect or a client, you should be matching and mirroring their body language to build instant rapture and trust, and just to make them feel really comfortable around you.

So, for example, if your client has their legs crossed, maybe you subtly cross your legs.

Or if they have their hands and fingers intertwined on the table, maybe you cup your hands on the table.

Or maybe you guys are standing up and talking, they have one hand in their pocket, maybe you put one of your hands in your pocket. And when you are doing this, this is really important, you want to match and mirror, not mimic.

So, you don’t want to copy them verbatim, otherwise you’ll have the opposite affect. They won’t trust you, they will be uncomfortable, and they will not want to be around you and do business with you. So, match and mirror, try it for yourself.

Sunshine: What’s your number one takeaway from today’s video? Leave us a comment. And thanks for watching.
