Sunshine: Are you a great speaker?
Crystal: Welcome to The Love of Business, I’m Crystal,
Sunshine: And I’m Sunshine. Let’s get to it.
Great speaker. You know, I bet this can be a challenge for a lot of our viewers. I know that speaking in public for me can be really difficult. Like, you have no idea how many times we retake these.
Why would it be a good idea for a business owner to be a good speaker?
Crystal: Well, there’s a couple reasons why it’s important. One is they can more effectively lead their team to get the response that they’re looking for from their team. Two, you can also use it as a marketing source and, you know, maybe speak at conferences to your target market.
Sunshine: That could get in front of a lot of eyeballs.
Crystal: Yes, it could.
Sunshine: So, do you have any tips for us on how to be a better speaker or point us in the right direction? If there’s any self-confidence issues in the audience?
Crystal: I do. Three ways to be a better speaker. Number one, when you’re speaking to your audience, whether it’s one person or a thousand people make a connection with them. So, make eye contact, and speak not too fast or too slow. Really try to hone in and connect with them, looking around the room.
Number two on how to be a great speaker, you should be able to talk about any subject for one minute, three hours or five hours. So, you as the expert can be very concise, or you can speak for long periods of time on it.
And number three, have high energy when you’re presenting. That energy is contagious. They can feel it and then they’ll feel good, you’ll feel good, and everyone will get more from your speaking.
Sunshine: Wow. Okay, so I guess you’re going to need to emote a little bit.
Crystal: Yes.
Sunshine: What’s your number one takeaway from today’s video? Leave us a comment and thanks for watching.
