Hope is Not a Business Strategy: Replacing the Word HOPE With EXPECT

This is one of Coach Crystal’s favorite things to enlighten a business owner with… Hope is not a strategy.

Video Transcription

Sunshine: Do you hope your business will be successful one day?

Crystal: Welcome, For the Love of Business. I’m Crystal.

Sunshine: And I’m Sunshine. Let’s get to it.

Hope.

Crystal: The h word.

Sunshine: It sounds– I mean, you have to have some kind of hope. But I got a feeling that you’re going to say that this is not a good thing in business.

Crystal: Well, here’s the thing. Hope is like praying for something good to happen to you someday. But the problem is, someday rarely comes.

Sunshine: So, how do you fix it then? I mean, this just sounds kind of awkward right? Because, I mean, our whole country kind of runs on hope.

Crystal: It does. You’re right. First thing, is to remove the word hope from your vocabulary. Because in business and life, we never get what we need or what we want. We always get what we expect. So, we are going to delete the word hope and replace it with expect. Because your expectations will come true.

Sunshine: You heard it here first, folks. You get what you expect, not what you hope for.

What’s your number one takeaway from today’s video? Leave us a comment. And thanks for watching.
